Before you jump into self-improvement, remember to show appreciation for what you currently have. Most people go into self-development because they feel like they are either inadequate or that it is something innately wrong with them. However, I do not want any of you to base your actions upon feelings of inadequacies. The best lesson I learned in 2020 was that we can not always have what we want, but we can experience what we have. Therefore, a small step as starting a gratitude journal can start a healthier approach to self-development. Start each day by writing down some fundamental things to be grateful for, even if it is just a banana or a cup of coffee. Lastly, next week I will write more about the concept of being good enough and how that is a healthier approach to self-development instead of whatever we have today.
